Preventive Dentistry

Preventive dentistry offers patients the opportunity to save time and money on dental care in the future by focusing on good dental health in the present. Dental cleans are a vital part of any preventive dental care programme, and at Bayview Dental Centre, we recommend regular dental check-ups and cleans to all our patients, no matter their age. There's no better way to maintain healthy teeth and gums than with a standard, six-month dental clean.

By making preventive dental care a priority, patients can help keep oral health issues, such as cavities, gum disease and other problems, at bay.

What Is Preventive Dental Care?

In addition to dental cleans and exams, preventive dental care includes routine x-rays and other diagnostic tests that help us ensure your ongoing oral health. Preventive care also includes following a good oral hygiene routine at home between dental exams.

What Is a Good Oral Hygiene Routine?

Adhering to a good oral hygiene routine every day is key to maintaining your oral health. A good oral hygiene routine includes daily brushing and flossing. Brush your teeth for a minimum of two minutes, two times every day. Also, floss carefully between your teeth once per day. When you brush and floss, make sure to reach all the crevices and corners.

It’s crucial to thoroughly remove food particles and bacteria from your mouth, even in those hard to reach places. Food debris that’s left behind could lead to the development of cavities.

When Does Preventive Care Begin for Children?

As a children's dentist in the Queensland area, we want children to enjoy excellent oral health. Your child’s oral health journey begins as soon as their first tooth makes an appearance. At that point, following an oral hygiene routine and booking routine dental visits becomes essential.

If you have questions about maintaining your child’s oral health, we invite you to call our practice to book a consultation with Dr Joy Lee, our knowledgeable dentist. We are also happy to answer any questions you may have about your child’s at-home oral healthcare over the phone.

Is Preventive Dental Care Affordable?

Preventive care can actually help patients save money. With early intervention for dental problems, we can usually take care of any developing dental issues with conservative treatment options. If a dental problem is left untreated for a long time, it may require more complex dental treatment, which generally costs more money for patients and is more of a hassle.

Patients often save both time and money with preventive dentistry is a huge benefit and a great reason to pursue preventive care.

To make preventive dentistry appointments more convenient and affordable, we also accept a wide range of insurances and provide our patients with various payment options, including a payment plan.

In our Runaway Bay dental practice, we do our best to help our patients receive the care they need to achieve excellent oral health. We also provide outstanding care to patients in our Helensvale location.
